Disaster Recovery Fund
09.16.19 UPDATE
Gifts made to this fund will now benefit those who have been impacted by weather events that occurred the week of September 9, 2019, including the tornadoes and flooding in the Sioux Falls area.
The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation has established the Sioux Falls Disaster Recovery Fund to help those impacted by three devastating tornadoes that hit the city late in the evening on Tuesday, Sept. 10, as well as those impacted by recent significant flooding. (NOTE: This fund was originally established to help tornado victims. As flooding developed in the days following the tornadoes, the scope of the fund was broadened to include those impacted by flooding as well.)
Gifts made to the Fund will help residents recover from tornado and flood-related damage.
If you or someone you know needs assistance recovering from tornado or flood-related damage, the first step is to contact the Helpline Center. The Community Foundation will partner with the Helpline Center and other area nonprofits and relief agencies to evaluate needs and distribute funds to storm victims as appropriate.
Gifts to the Sioux Falls Disaster Recovery Fund can be made online or can be delivered to the Community Foundation's office, located at 200 N. Cherapa Place in downtown Sioux Falls.
“We're proud to be part of a community that rallies together in times of need,” said Community Foundation President Andy Patterson. “The morning following the storms we began receiving a number of calls and messages from folks asking how they could help those impacted — more examples of the spirit of generosity and care that exists here. We established this Fund to help our neighbors in need at this difficult time and our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been impacted.”
