Read MoreThe stretch of time between the winter solstice and the spring equinox can feel like the doldrums, especially in the Upper Midwest.
Think dark mornings, early sunsets and bitter cold.
Sure, some days you get that bright, gorgeous glimpse of what it might be like to live in a snow globe. But more often, that time between the merriment of the holidays and the first day of spring can be challenging.
Several nonprofits in the Sioux Falls area offer services that can help address some of the challenges that come along with winter – everything from just feeling a little blue to those who have Seasonal Affective Disorder.
As you advise your clients on their charitable giving, remember that these nonprofits can benefit from multi-year gifts.
“So many nonprofits operate as leanly as possible,” said Patrick Gale, vice president for community investment with the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation. “A charitable donation that repeats really is the gift that keeps on giving for these organizations.”
