Community Foundation Awards $135,000 in Grants
The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation has announced its latest round of Community Fund grants totaling $135,000 in support for local nonprofits and causes throughout our area.
The Foster Network supports foster parents and families by providing assistance, support, and essential supplies to foster families in need.
The Community Foundation grant will help expand The Closet, a program that provides free clothing to hundreds of foster children in the area each year. The need for this service has doubled in recent years, necessitating a significant scope increase.

The Community Foundation Grant will support their after-school transportation program for middle school students in Title 1 schools. Getting children home or to an after-school program every evening is a significant challenge, especially for lower-income families, so this program provides transportation to approximately 165 students each day.

The Community Foundation Grant will support their Meals on Wheels program that delivers meals to older adults who have trouble obtaining groceries on their own. By upgrading their technological capabilities and moving to an automated tracking system, the program will be able to improve efficiency, reduce overall costs, and provide better service to clients.
